Dental Meta Ads Cost Per Lead: Benchmarks and Real Campaign DataPaid ads

Facebook and Instagram are among the most cost-effective ways for a dental practice to generate new-patient inquiries — but “cost per lead” varies enormously depending on the procedure, the market and, above all, the creative. Here’s what the benchmarks say and what we see in real campaigns.

The industry benchmark

WordStream’s 2025 Facebook ads benchmarks put the average cost per lead for dentists and dental services at $76.71, against an all-industry average of $27.66 — one of the highest of any category, reflecting how valuable a dental patient is. The average conversion rate for dental lead campaigns was 6.38%.

Benchmarks are averages across very different campaigns, so treat them as a ceiling to beat rather than a target.

Real campaign data, by procedure

Here’s one month (April 2026) of Meta ads we ran for a Southern California dental practice:

CampaignLeadsCost per lead
New Patient170$13
Implants207$26
Wisdom Teeth54$30
Invisalign13$97
Account total444$24 avg

Total spend was roughly $10.5K, and those leads produced $62,337 in accepted treatment in the month, with $402K+ more diagnosed and still in the pipeline.

Two things stand out. First, the account averaged well under the industry benchmark. Second, cost per lead varied more than 7× between procedures — which is why each procedure needs its own campaign and budget.

What lowers your cost per lead

Creative is the targeting

Meta’s algorithm decides who sees your ad largely based on who engages with it. Real doctor-led video and patient stories consistently outperform stock photos and discount graphics — which is why the same shoot that fills your feed should become your ad creative. See dental video production.

One campaign per procedure

Implant, Invisalign and new-patient audiences behave differently. Separate campaigns let you shift budget to what’s working instead of averaging winners and losers together.

Test hooks, not just audiences

The first seconds of a video decide whether anyone keeps watching. Testing several hooks from the same shoot is often the fastest way to cut cost per lead.

Fast follow-up

A cheap lead that waits a day for a call is an expensive lead. Automated responses and a clear follow-up process protect what you paid for.

Look past cost per lead

A $13 lead that never books is worth less than a $97 lead that accepts a full treatment plan. Track cost per booked patient and treatment accepted alongside cost per lead — that’s what tells you where to put the next dollar.
